Bankrate.com is the leading online source for all things financial. As one of the oldest (launched in 1976) and most trusted FinTech websites around, the brand was in need of a refresh that looked as rich and trustworthy as the brand’s history.
We started by taking inventory of the current brand elements and site designs. Accounting for all iterations and edge cases. A lot of inconsistencies had accumulated over the years.
From there, we entered into a Co-Creation Sprint; a three-day creative dive into a project modeled closely after Google Ventures’ Design Sprints. Stakeholder interviews, benchmarking, and sketching… lots and lots of sketching. Here are a few of mine.
After several rounds of sketching and alignment, I led a core team into building out the actual Design System and Brand Elements.
The final deliverable included a full Sketch symbol library and a fully coded living styleguide. Here’s a small example of some of the finished pieces.
